Tiles inside stove surround

    Hi Guys

I have an electric stove and want to finish the surround. Its a bog standard size and i want to put a few black tiles that i have spare on the bottom and then i want to put this on top

    http://heatdesign.ie/oyster-chamber#.V7h2QU0rJD8

So i have never tiled before but have done plenty of DIY. It will only take a few tiles so i want to have a go at it myself and if it doesnt work out then i can get a tiler to finish it for me

I have attached a picture of setup as it is now

I would like some advice on how to do this - my plan is

    1. Remove the small timber lip
    2. Start at outside with tiling so when i have to do some cutting then i can do it at the back and wont be seen
    3. Install the chamber in the link above
    4. Put some kind of lip on the outside

How does this sound ? As i say tiling is new to me so any advice would be great and any ideas what kind of surround i can use ?
