Do you get arrears for Jsa if you get a job before its been approved?

    Hi all,

Looking for some information. I put in a claim for Jsa around a month ago, but first contact was the start of July (had to wait 2.5 weeks for appointment to submit the documents). It still hasn't been approved, but there's no reason it wouldn't. It's the habitual residence part that seems to be holding it up.

I have been called for a second round of interviews for a position that I feel really confident about. I am wondering if I got the job, would I be paid the arrears for the time that I was unemployed. Or when I notify them of my employment will they just stop all claims straight away and not bother with it anymore? I obviously don't want to claim for when I'm working but am wondering about the six weeks or so since I made contact.

I'm wondering because I have had to put car insurance etc on my card so if I lose all this back pay I can't afford to sign a lease at the moment.

Any help or info would be really appreciated, cheers

Thanks for the reply guys. It's scary how expensive it is getting a job like! Wasn't sure if they'd just wash their hands of me if I get it.

    Fingers crossed!

Assuming the HRC is greenlit you will get paid. If you fail the HRC the claim is closed. So not a bad idea to drop into the local Intreo and inform them of the job.
Anybody judging the HRC will be convinced that yes, you are habitually resident.
Having a new job is like holding a royal flush.

That's great, it's what I'd hoped but you'd never know what might happen. I've never been on welfare before so finding myself a little lost!

    Thanks for your reply!
