What do you guys bring to class every day? Do yu need a rucksack, laptop bag, or can you get by with pen and a notebook? Also any advice you wish youd thought of/known when you began your studies?

Firstly, it depends on yourself; do you prefer to have handwritten notes or are you more comfortable typing? Then there's the type of lecture notes the lecturer provides; some will be detailed so short written notes should be sufficient, but others will give an outline and you'll have more notes to take so it comes down to whatever way you feel is the most efficient for you. There's a lot of trial and error involved as well; lectures are different from what you're used to in school so it will take a few weeks to figure out a system that works well for you. Generally you will bring either your laptop or your notepad (or both) to your lectures; textbooks won't be required in class so you won't need to carry them around in a bag all day.

Some advice: stay on top of the recommended reading if you can, go to your tutorials, and most important for first years; don't be afraid of feeling stupid in the first few weeks - guarantee 99% of your fellow students are feeling just the same, which can be a shock to people used to picking things up very easily and getting great grades in school. Law is new to you and it takes some getting used to.

Best of luck and enjoy :)

You can bring whatever you like!! I would usually bring a school bag with my laptop and maybe a notebook if I need to jot down notes. Usually I use my laptop in lectures and I will record lectures (if the lecturers permit this, most do!) and that way I can listen back over and type out notes later. This is the best way in my opinion as you will never miss a thing! Plus, it'll save you having to buy a voice recorder thing which are quite expensive!
    Good luck!

some lecturers dont allow laptops as the typing drives them demented, you can record them but always ask permission first.

alot of lecturers will put presentations/ notes on blackboard before the lecture so try and print them out or have them with you if you can. i found it really handy.
