I just turned on the TV to watch the news. There's now a caption saying "The Peoples Angelus". Then there's some abstract footage. What's that all about?

The Christian aspect has been more or less removed because somebody somewhere might be offended, or somebody somewhere might be offended on behalf on somebody somewhere, whose probably not even feeling offended in the first place.

Instead of just ditching it as the relic of Catholic Ireland that it is, RTE are making a pathetic attempt of being inclusive around something that is sectarian.

I've never known anyone of another religion to complain when they hear it. I think 'Catlicks' get themselves into a twist over the bells.
If I switch on the News and the Angelus is on, I just light a fag and wait for it to finish. No big deal...

Yeah. It seems to be gone all generic. I find it handy if I'm in a different room. It lets me know the news will be on in a minute.

Its time RTE grew a set and ditched it from TV and radio.

We aren't afraid of the Church any more.

I wonder how much the church is paying for such prime time advertising.

Well if RTE wish to provide a pretence of providing a broadbase of respect for various aspects of Ireland's heritage then the Angelus should be safe, otherwise they can take themselves into the private sphere and broadcast what they like after scraping their licence tax.

It's just a step to getting rid of it in as slow a way as possible. We Irish like our changes to be small, muddled and take a very long time.

Thankfully they're not doing a Barcelona
    Year 0 - No sponsor
    Year 1 - Charity sponser
Year 2 - Modern slavers sponsor
