Mary Moore from Rathcoole in South County Dublin featured on the architecture's show in one of its earlier series', and Dermot and the gang renovated her three-bedroom home. However, Mary was not at all happy with their work, claiming that she remedial works were needed after they had all left to repair the property.

She took High Court proceedings seeking damages against Bannon, the show's producers, and the building firm that carried out the work. All claims were denied, but the case was heard today and has been settled with Mary being rewarded €100,000 in damages.

    There you go OP

He designs something over budget. Goes away for a week. Builder does something else. Dermot freaks.

    Every fecking show.

    What's the court case about?

Mary Moore has one of the most challenging problems probably ever presented on Room to Improve. She has lived in Rathcoole, South Dublin, in the same house for over 20 years. In that time Mary's surroundings have changed completely. Today her 3 bed semi is right beside one of the busiest roads in the country, the N7. To say it is noisy is to understate it.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that moving was the solution but that's not an option for Mary. She loves her neighbourhood and is totally integrated into the local community.
Mary has made some changes to her home over the years, she even added on a conservatory which unfortunately because of the noise she can no longer use. Now she believes the time is right to "revamp and embrace new ideas".
For €100,000 she wants rid of her small rooms, she'd like a room she can use to entertain all year round and a way to enjoy her garden without earplugs!
The design solution Dermot offers Mary is one of the most unusual and interesting he has ever conceived. "By the time it's finished Mary's house will be no ordinary semi-d".
On day one of the build a critical measurement on Dermot's plan is discovered by the builder Benny to be wrong. The mistake sets a tone "I got the dimension wrong on day one so now I always come here with apprehension" admits Dermot.
Mid-way through the build a problem with the window order pushes the schedule by an extra two weeks?. However the final straw is the wait for the kitchen design which Dermot keeps putting on the long-finger. Builder Benny?s patience eventually runs out "It's the usual with Dermot we just haven't got the kitchen plan. We've been waiting three weeks for it."

Maybe next series everyone talks and gets it right...
