Townsend will have a point to prove. They've signed Benteke, presumably he won't feature? Jedinak is gone. I'd imagine Wickham will start up front.

Yes we had plenty of possession against Everton, but looked toothless until Janssen came on. Still, I doubt he'll start him.

All three points are a must.

When did Townsend sign for Palace? Guaranteed he gets a goal against us again :/

I'd still be pretty optimistic about this. We were slow to start against Everton, but looked much better in the 2nd half. If we can start like that, we should win it.

    3-1 Spurs

Just looking on Paddy Power there. Janssen is ahead of Kane in all the goalscorer markets. Mad.

It suggests there is value on Kane to be first goal scorer, if Janssen doesn't start.

Should be beating these at home,2-0

Will win against CP at home. Would start Jansen and rattle them right from the kick off. Lamela could be the one this season who drives us on.

Two up top, good to see at home.

    4-4-2?

#THFC team: Vorm, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Wanyama, Lamela, Eriksen; Janssen, Kane (c) #COYS

Could be 4-4-2 but I suspect Kane will be slightly deeper than usual

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭tippspur

    4-2-3-1 still I'd say,maybe Kane behind Jansen?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 599 ✭✭✭09_09_09

I think we do not need two DMs at home. Should have gone for 4-1-3-2, but let's see.

Last time we started a game without both Dembele and Alli it didn't go so well.

Thankfully we couldn't have asked for better opposition then CP who were totally toothless.

The Dier/Wanyama pivot is all fine and dandy for away games against the bigger teams but looking forward to seeing Alli and Dembele back together. Have a feeling Eriksen might make way if Poch goes with Janssen up front with Kane.

Missed the game again (that's 0/2 this season for me), but good to get the win. Sounds like we were comfortable enough, and deserved it. It's very good to see a few people mentioning Jansen and Kane working well together, as that's a partnership that we need to work well.

Liverpool next week will be a big test. They always do well against the bigger teams, and will need to bounce back after their defeat this week.

I'd have Alli starting against Pool, drop Eriksen.

    When is Dembele back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,108 ✭✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Dembele should be back. He missed the Newcastle games and the first 2 games of this season.

I doubt he will start but he owes us after losing the plot at Chelsea.

Dembele is suspended until the 18th of September. He got a 6 match ban as far as I know.

Well deserved imo. Eye gouging is a scummy thing to do, even if it was to Costa.

Yeah if someone did that to one of our players we'd hate him forever. It's worse than anything I've ever seen Costa do.

He'll have a hard time getting back in the starting XI by then so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,428 ✭✭✭MrKingsley

Hes out for the next two yeah. If he was banned until november I dont think any of us could have any real complaints. Hell have had a decent rest period after the euros though

Didnt get to see the game yesterday but 3 points and a clean sheet is great for the second game. In years gone by weve thrown easy points away in the first 5/6 games that have ended up coming back to haunt us later on.

Pardew has a really good record against us* and hes also a tool so im a happy fan

Yeah 4 points from 2 games is excellent with Dembele suspended, Lloris injured, and a few others working their fitness up. I'd take a draw against Pool if we then beat Sunderland and Stoke.

Yeah, it was a sluggish start last season that was the main barrier to us making a very serious title challenge. A few early points on the board is a nice change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭tippspur

He served two at the end of last season didn't he? two more down now and two to go.
