Worth the extra 3k - A6 2012 v A6 2013

From a resale point of view only, yes it's worth it. You probably won't enjoy it more to justify 3k but it will be worth more come resale time. You should get that 3k back in 3 years, it's not much depreciation for 1 year

The 2012 SE is expensive imo, here is a 2012 from a main dealer for less money:

So there should be more than 3k in the difference between a 2012 SE and 2013 S-Line even though the S-Line has a bit more mileage on it. Imo the S-Line is a lot nicer looking that the SE and they tend to be more desireable second hand.

Thanks for the info. How would you rate the a6 against the 5 series.?

Have you driven a 5 series? If not, you might want to (as well as an XF) before you part with your cash. Genuinely I'm lost as to the appeal of standard A6 and A4s we get here.

The A6 is expensive 14k with 33kmiles in Liverpool same spec ( 16.2k)
    3.9k VRT
Nearly 7k of a difference on cost about 500 to collect it.

    Hi,

Would love some advice on a new purchase

The 2012 is IMHO too expensive compared to the 2013. I would expect the 2012 cost at least two grand less, if not three (the 2013 is S-Line, 2012 isn't).

The 2013 will definitely hold more value because its fresher, S line & a more desirable colour.

I would buy neither though. You will get a 2014 S line in from the UK easily for that money and it will still be in warranty.

Like with most competitors in all classes the a6 v 5 series is a close run thing. It's down to preference really. Both are great cars.

One thing I will say though is the sports models in both are comfortably more impressive looking cars than the non sport in the other.

I wouldn't entertain anything except an s line or m sport, if you do and drive down the road and see a sport or s line you will regret it.

Good thing for you is there are a huge number of online reviews comparing them (normally alongside a merc e class and sometimes jags/lexus) so plenty for you to view. YouTube has a huge amount.

Just make sure they are reviewing like for like (so not the ones reviewing the 2010 5 series v the 2016 e class for example). So look for videos from 2012/13 or whatever year you are looking at to get a look at the models you want.

Bmw always comes out on top with driver dynamics without fail in these reviews but Audi has its merits, interior quality usually goes to Audi but very little in it on anything to be honest.

Reviewers have to give an opinion, boring video if they said they don't know which is better wouldn't it!

Drive them both, would be silly not to, weigh up everything and check condition/history and make your choice.
