Planning permission and representatives.

    Recently objected to planning application of three houses next to my house, just noticed online that the planning has listed the chairperson of the council as a 'representative'.

    Does anyone know what exactly is the representative's role in the planning process, from looking at other planning applications it doesn't seem the norm for a councillor to be involved.
