Hi guys, my wifes 2007 1.2 twinport agila 110000 kms on it has been giving me headaches for the last few weeks car was going great then a noise came from the rear area like an airconditioner going on it was really loud that even if you close the windows you could hear it going and the car keeps losing power and it surges back again which was diagnosed as a fuel pump which got replaced, car was ok for 2 weeks.

Then new symptoms popped up it will start but if you give it gas itll splutter and die my next door neighbor who was handy enough with a car connected it to his launch diagnostics but it didnt show any faults so he did me a favor by cleaning the throttle body with a spray then the car started and worked ok for a week.

Then one day it went mad again hard starts and with really bad engine jerking and but if you hold the throttle up to 2000 rpm for a few minutes it clears up and i was able to drive down to a mechanic who diagnosed it with the following codes
    P0170 fuel trim invalid bank
p0110 intake invalid air temp circuit malfunction too high
p0100 MAF invalid air flow sensor malfunction

He cleared the codes and told me to change the sensor and also change the crankshaft sensor, so off i went to southside got a non oem maf sensor and crankshaft sensor, a mechanic installed the maf sensor car worked ok he told me not to change the crankshaft senor yet as everything was looking ok no codes showing up after clearing and test drive and the car ran really well for that day no hard starting and in case it acts up again then , only then will he change the crank shaft sensor

The next day car was backfiring when i started it, engine shuddering and the eml light was on and wouldnt run so had it towed to the mechanic he did diagnostics showed permanent maf failure discovered that the maf sensor was melted inside, luckily he had the old original Bosch maf sensor.

he cleaned it up put on the old maf sensor and changed the crankshaft sensor, car was back to normal again for 2 days then i noticed that the care was loosing a bit of power while driving today for about an hour and the EML came on again a nd the engine sounds a bit louder, arrived home and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes to reset the ecu to see if itll help.

Reconnected the battery had the ignition in on position for 5 minutes but didnt crank it then i started the car no hard starting, the EML was gone, car was shuddering for 30 seconds to a minute in idle then it smoothed out after a couple of backfires,

Drove the car for half an hour everything was grand then I had my neighbour do the diagnostics again it didnt show any codes.

Now im wondering if the EML comes out again tomorrow should i just get a genuine Bosch MAF and have the mechanic install it clear the codes or just go to the opel garage and have them deal with car as im sick and tired of dealing with it for the last few weeks.

also the mechanic didnt do the whole relearn after changing the crankshaft sensor didnt even know about this till i read up on it online, is this really important? called the mechanic about this he said its ok its only an opel and not a ferrari that really needs to do this stuff which got me annoyed as i worked hard to get my wife this car years ago he told me that a ecu reset/ reprogram from the dealer my cure all of this, Called the nearest opel garage they told me itll be 110 euro to reprogram or relearn the ecu also that would also include relearning for the new crankshaft sensor.

Also anybody knows a good independent opel specialist who could really diagnose and help me out with this car? thanks in advance.
