Floorboards on bed base

I have two double bases which are halved. The lats in one of them have started cracking and once the first cracks, the others follow.

So I was thinking of lying four sections of floorboard (or something like that) cut to sit flush with the base sections.

Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone done it?

I'm in D15, anyone know where I could get them? Maybe PH Ross at Hanlon's Corner?

    Thanks.

Floor boards would be perfect....and would never break again, but overkill for your needs. The supplied lats that come with the bases are generally very light.
