Moving SD card between phones

I'm planning on upgrading my Samsung S5 to the S7 shortly.

I have a lot of application data (e.g. Audible, Kindle, music, some games, etc) stored on the micro SD card. When I change phone, can I just move the SD card over, install those apps on the new phone, and point them to the SD card? Or would I have to download all the data (like audible books) again once I've installed the app on the new phone?

Depends, media apps tend to store their data in a consistent manner on the SD and may be able to use it the same cache(though for example gPlay stores all my music onboard).

Games etc you'd need to use the likes of TB (and thus be rooted).

Thanks. FYI, Google Play Music can store your music on the SD card - Settings/Storage Location allows you to pick between internal or external storage.
