Hi I have put up a stud partition for a shower area and was lining up my tiller and he said the timbers would get damp n I'd have a musty smell from it.
It's 4 by 2 timbers , 1/2" slab and then tiles on. it's open plan with no door.
Would I be better to get rid and build up with 4" solids? It's a concrete floor in a bungalow so would take the weight no bother. or is there a handler option,Thanks

Why use a 1/2 inch slab? Tile backer board (marmox) would be much better, there's a tape to seal over screws and joints. You can also tank it but that would be over kill. Once the tray is installed correctly and sealed can't see why there would be a problem.

Yes,you can use the partition and the 1/2 inch slab, but you should install a tanking kit over this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT8Azsx2IB8

or you can fit a magnesium board onto the partition and then fit the tanking kit.

Tiler doesnt know what he's talking about. Get the right board, ie Aqua board, water proof tape n joint, fosroc nitocote cm210 waterproof, resin tile adhesive and I guarantee it will not leak, all on metal stud and double board for rigidity, ( doesn't need it but I would).
