    Simple.

Just make sure that you don't sober up. Ever. Then you won't give a fuck either ways.

    Sorted

this ever happen to anyone else

No. You're the first person in history to ever feel like this after drinking alcohol.

Was it the GoldSchlager? It's the GoldSchlager that gets me, can't have it anymore :(

I'd go round and apologise as soon as possible.

    Be grand.

Oh it gets much worse with age, try 2-3 hours on a Sunday evening of full blown anxiety and existential crisis :D A couple of smokes and a good laugh at something will normally get rid of it, other than that you just have to wait it out.

You shouldn't feel bad for speaking your mind. Your friend now knows exactly what you think of him; your relationship is more honest now. Though also possibly non-existent.

I suffer very much with the Fear aspect - the feeling of impending doom, like the world is gonna swallow you up. I'm dreading the Tuesday after the Electric Picnic for that very reason :(

    A mate of mine suggested..

    1) Heading to a local gym sauna with a 2 litre of water and stay there for 20 mins (the others in the sauna may not thank you for it)
    2) Cold shower
    3) Long walk
    4) A good feed of proper food

Might give that a go myself

On the other aspect, send a sincerely worded apology to the mate or if you can meet him/her, even better, and bring a token gift for being an a**hole

Your mate is probably also stricken with fear and posting on Reddit that he insulted you last night.

Of course this has happened to other people, I'd hazard a guess it's happened to anyone who's ever hit the bottle hard. There's even been films made about the fear, alcohol is a depressant so it stands to reason you don't feel sunshine and rainbows the next day, particularly if you insulted a friend but just apologise and learn from it. It only seems like a huge deal now cos you're in the grips of the 'fear'.

Watch an episode of my little pony and drink a glass of warm milk, that should sort you out. Or, apologise, man up and forget about it!

If you have to drink, try to drink an equal amount of water so you won't get into such a state.
Drinkers..why do ye do it to yourselves? :D

Did people get "the fear"/ did "the fear" exist in, for instance, 1996? I've only heard the phrase in recent years and I've been drinking for nearly 10 years. I've personally only experienced it in recent years too. I get the feeling hangovers involved less introspection before the 2010s or something ..

F**k it - no one else has posted it so I'm doing it.

If you've never heard the song, then give it a listen. You can thank me later :D

    I dreamt a dream the other night I couldn’t sleep a wink
The rats were tryin’ to count the sheep and I was off the drink
There were footsteps in the parlour and voices on the stairs
I was climbin’ up the walls and movin’ round the chairs.
I looked out from under the blanket up at the fireplace.
The Pope and John F. Kennedy were starin’ in me face.*
Suddenly it dawned at me I was getting the old D.T.s
When the Child o’ Prague began to dance around the mantlepiece.

Goodbye to the Port and Brandy, to the Vodka and the Stag,
To the Schmiddick and the Harpic, the bottled draught and keg.
As I sat lookin’ up the Guinness ad I could never figure out
How your man stayed up on the surfboard after 14 pints of stout.

Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playing with a can that he was kicking.
Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone frying chicken.
And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost
    Somewhere, somehow along the way.

    On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
    Of the sleeping city sidewalk
    And Sunday morning coming down.

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging.
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singing.
Then I headed down the street,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing,
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

It's a horrible feeling alright. I think it's nature's way of stopping us all becoming alcoholics.

Usually you'll find that bugger all happened and you've just made it seem 1,000 times worse in your own mind. But meanwhile you'll go over it again and again utterly convincing yourself that you made a total tool of yourself/upset someone/lost all your mates for ever and ever, etc....

Only upshot is that it passes. The sad thing is eventually you forget how crappy it felt and go and do it all over again.

Short term only things that I found helpful with it would be a nice shower, a take-away and a few episodes of Only Fools & Horses (or whatever gives you a laugh) and plenty of water.

Oh.... And I definitely wouldn't recommend the hair of the dog because imo it just comes back at ya even harder the next day then.
If you do the crime, be prepared to do the time :)

This is well possible. Or were they all sober and only you indulging in the cup that cheers before the fears?

Give your mate a ring and babble in a traumatised manner at him until he forgives you.
