How about a quad pulled weed cutter ? A tool like a weed licker except instead of a rolling carpet have say a length of piano wire 8-10 ft wide a few inches above the sward ! Driven at speed would slice the Base of strong ragwort or thistles? If not slicing clean it would definitely buckle enough to kill eventually!…

If not there must be a good reason ?if the field was grazed tight before going in it could work a treat? I can't explain what I picture but I can't see why it wouldn't work ! Like a scythe effect

rig up an old horse drawn mower to the quad? not sure how fast you'd go with it though
