They're on the 2004 Golf platform, yes. engine is right up to date though.
The 1.2 TSI is a nice engine. Not sure how trouble free they are, seem to have timing chain issues in my head for some reason.

Okay I will check out and research for any timing chain issues.

Good overall reviews from the AA though....

What about price as I have a trade in,

These weren't an expensive car new, I remember they were doing great deals on them as the model got older.
Both strike me as a bit expensive, even the cheaper one.

11k/12k seems expensive to me for a 5 year old petrol examples especially when it's the old model.

Just for reference here you can buy a newer model that is 2 years younger for under 15k:

Thanks Bazz, yes I thought 11,950 was a bit steep for a 5 nearly 6 yr old car

Yeah understood, it was more just an example of what 13 reg newer models were going for compared to the 11 reg old models you were looking at.

I did look and the newer models look like a better spec and dashboard configuration.

Have been searching all car websites and 11-12k seems to be the price range for 2011 1.2 TSI petrols

    @Colm_mcm

The Red Seat Leon is now sold according to sales guy in Windsor,Airside.

I have checked the retail prices of the Leon 2011 in 26 counties and the retail price comes in on average at 11/12k??

What you think , still too expensive as if I purchase I would be keeping for 3 yrs at least?

    Thanks

I read an online review recently which stated that the engine on the current Seat Leon 1.2 tsi are not as refined as the Golf engine.

I was under the impression that they were both the same engine.

    Is there a difference?

Could be that the cabin isn't as well insulated? Engine is the same.

See Pros & Cons section re engines not being as refined as the Golf.

It doesn't seem to specify any engine.

Overall it gets a good review but I'm curious about the reference to engine refinement in comparison to Golf.
