    Hi,
First post so sorry for being all questions! Does anyone have recent prices for 20 ton loads of products like 3 inch down, 804, 20mm chippings ex works preferably? I'm sitting down to plan a job but the quarries are not open Saturdays so can't get prices:-( I'm just in the ball park calc stage, so if I had a fair idea what is being charged for these products ex works I'd be happy enough. I'm based near Ennis so local prices would be a big help if anyone had them. I'm doing a 100m roadway and want 3 inch down, 804 and then 20mm chippings surfacing it.

For 3" down your talking about 8 - 10Euro per ton

For 804 your talking about 12.50 - 14Euro per ton

For 20mm chippings I'd say about 15Euro per ton

The above would be less VAT and is approx prices to give you an idea.

Stone ain't cheap especially when dealing with big lengths of road such as 100m.

Rough calculations based on 5m wide road at 100m long

    For 250mm of base of 3" stone = 100 x 5 x 0.25 = 125m3.

    125m3 x 2.4(to convert m3 to ton) = 300ton of 3" down.

    For 100my of 804 = 100 x 5 x 0.1 = 50m3.

    50m3 x 2.4 (to convert m3 to ton) = 120ton of 804

    About 40-50mm of chippings on top would be 100 x 5 x 0.04 = 20m3

    20m3 x 2.4 = 48ton.

    All approx estimates.

Thanks for the reply delfagio. When you say "less VAT" do you these prices are including VAT?

Hi turfin, no I mean that the prices shown are less VAT

So multiply the figures by 1.23 to add on the 23% VAT

The 888 is for houses post pyrite but SR 21 will apply to your project.

    ...........

No chance of me being aware of any newsletter from the mining and quarrying industry! I looked at the link, the SR21 relates to the specification of aggregate. I don't really care if the quarry selling the crushed stone is selling to that standard or not so long as it's not sh1t they're selling. It is a private roadway finished with chippings after all. I know cheap slig can be got in a lot of places but I'll be looking for limestone. Not many options around here for that tho.
