Bath leaking when draining

I've a bath that's leaking when draining but no evidence of a leak when the shower is used.

Looking on line and simple fix appears to be to remove the drain trap and reseal with plumbers putty

All the advice comes from us sites from what I can see. Might be a dumb question but are our baths plumbed in the same way? Just trying to avoid a plumber call out charge

    Cheers lads

Had a similar problem in a house last year it leaked with a bath but not with a shower.
Turned out when the tiled bath panel was removed( another story altogether) the over flow hose had come loose from the trap and with the volume of water in the bath it was more inclined to leak.

Thanks my side panel is tiled too and don't want to go there!

It's possible a bend has come lose under the bath.. Or sealant around the drain has to be redone..

I used to work in a couple of bathroom furniture places and always advised that while tiling the side of the bath was a nice idea, it should always be done with the expectation that the whole panel could be removed. Easily done id any thought goes into it.

Anyway, I had the same problem too before. Water leaked when draining bath, but not for shower. The higher volume of water draining from a bath allowed water to escape from a loose seal. I used the problem as an opportunity to fit an easy clean waste, which is great for keeping the waste clear. It's just nasty when it does need clearing :(

The panel will have to be removed so any repair can be carried out
