    Hi,

I noticed this morning that Ryanair had automated baggage drop desk. I didn't use them as i didn't have hold luggage, therefore i'd like to know how these work with luggage slightly overweight by less than a kilo. The staff usually let these go, but how about the new system?

    Thanks

It'll stop you from dropping the bag, as it should.

    Did you actually use them?

It should ask for payment of extra kilos if any, but i wanted to know if it asks for payment even for 0.1kg extra.

    Did anyone use the machine?

I used it, my bag was OK but I didn´t see any "pay extra" option, my guess is that your bag would be rejected and you´d have to go to the human-operated drop desk.

Thanks belfe. They appear to have a chip and pin too in those machines that's why I thought it would ask for payment when the bag is overweight.

    Hi Belfe,

How easy did you find the process? Were there staff around to help?

My parents are travelling with Ryanair in September. If it would make life easier for them my mother (my dad hates flying), I'd go in with them.

    Thanks,

    S

I used them yesterday, the process is simple, you have to follow the on screen instructions.
Drop the bag, scan your boarding pass, print the label and attach it to the bag, it took me less than 2 min and most machines were empty, the staff were around to help as well.

Do you know if we must use the machines, or we can also use baggage drop desks operated by staff instead (if any)?
