Childcare assistance options

I am just looking for advice regarding what options/assistance there is for childcare specifically creche places.

Myself and my partner are both full time students. I am heading back to college in September to finish my 4th year level 8 addon year. My partner was at college up until Jan 16 but had to defer the rest of the year as we had nobody to mind the child while we were at college.

She is planning on going back to college in Jan 17 however we have nobody to look after the child. Our only real option is putting our child who will be 18 months old into creche. We do not know what our timetable will be but we would envisage that our daughter would only be going to creche about 3 days a week and not full days either as we would normally start at 9/10am and finish at about 3 depending on the timetable.

Just browsing through the internet looking at creche prices and they are very very expensive. I receive Disability allowance which switches to BTEA when I resume college and my partner receives JSA and switches to BTEA when she is back at college.

We have sent cvs away and hopefully we hear something back but if we don't what are our options? Is there any creche grants available or any assistance?

There are some alright, I have no knowledge beyond my wife runs a creche and she has mentioned in the past that certain people are getting their fees paid by the state/college. Id imagine its fairly strict but well worth looking into, maybe citizens advice or even the colleges themselves. Best of luck with it.

    Community Childcare Subvention Program :-

The Creche must be non profit community based, your county childcare committee can provide a list.

As fair as I remember applications should be made by mid September but best do it now while your partner is on JA. If she has a medical card too you should get the best rate.

The rules changed recently and some private providers can provide that or a very similar scheme now aswell
