Just wondering if the weight is displayed on a board the same as when cattle are sold?

Start waving your hand at the auctioneer or if you want to be more subtle you could wink or nod your head at him. Make sure you get a good spot so its easy for the auctioneer to see you

Bog standard advice: know how much roughly you'll be selling the lambs for and how much you'll be spending on them at home before you bid on them in the first place. Same for sheep - how much are they worth to you?

After that, just spend a few days at the ring and spot the factory agents, spectators (non-buyers), etc.

There was a mart near me that used to weigh lambs on the way in and then write the weight above the pen. The one where I sell now, they are weighed before they go into the ring. I think I prefer the former way as they can lose weight just standing around for a few hours....

we'd have nearly an hour haul to the mart so they'd empty out fairly well on that trip. but if you look at the floor of the pens its fairly clear which ones have emptied out

The one we go to weighs them as they come out of their trailers on the way in and then are put into pens then they give the average weight when selling.
