Eir Fibre €5 price increase

Got a letter from Eir today informing me that my package cost (Fibre broadband only no tv or phone) will be increasing in price by €5.

I have 30 days to opt out of the contract without penalty. They mention I now have access to Eir sport (via streaming I assume).

I thought this price increase would only apply to subscribers with bundles from Eir.

Anyone know if fibre broadband only customers should be exempt?

Standalone customers like yourself are the ones seeing the biggest hike. Its because BB only used to be cheaper than BB + Phone but this was losing OpenEir money so now they're the same thus your standalone package costs Eir more.

If you dont want TV etc then no huge reason not to move to Vodafone who are slightly cheaper, only downside is their modem isnt amazing.

If you have Sky via satellite then you can get the Eir sport channels through sky afaik.

When is the first bill with the new increased price? I still haven't got notification of a price increase. I'm a broadband only customer well out of contract paying €44.99 a month. Am I due an increase?

The reason for the retail price increase is because open-eir's wholesale price to retailers increases from Sept 1st. Previous discussion here.

Got my letter yesterday too. Contract was cancelled within 4 minutes of me opening the letter. €50 p/m for just 3MB alone.....Nope.
