Hi just looking for a bit of advice and would be grateful of any, my bf is currently doing an apprenticeship and has been told that in the next few weeks that he days could be cut from 5 to 3 for a temporary period of time, therfore he's wages will be effected. Is there anything he can do about he's pay as this is not his fault, social welfare, fas etc? He is registered. .....Thanks in advance

There's not a whole lot he can do. He can be temporarily laid off for ten weeks at a weeks notice. I will say though there is any amount of work around. What trade has he?

Things probably havnt picked up as much for chippies as industrial trades. No harm in approaching them

He can apply for job seekers for the other 2days but he'd need to be looking for work for those days.

Yes, this is a scenario that Welfare are very familiar with. He can most likely get job-seekers for the two days. Will need to get a letter from the employer outlining the reduction.
