Which headphones - no clue how they work or what I need?

I'd appreciate some help in choosing suitable headphones for under €100 that can be be bought in Dublin city centre. I haven't a clue how wireless headphones work and don't really understand what I actually need.

Basically I want headphones to use at home to block out the noise around me. I'm not someone who usually listens to music but will just put something on to block out the noise that's annoying me. I'm not personally bothered about sound quality, I just want some peace from this particular noise.

The devices I would like to use the headphones with are my phone, tablet, laptop and TV. Should I get wireless headphones? Will wireless headphones work with all these devices including the TV?

For example, would these ones in Argos work for me?

    Or any other specific suggestions?

Many thanks for any assistance. I haven't a clue where to start and was too overwhelmed to even know what to ask in PC World today.

    Hi OP,
there are some major differences between both of those linked headphones.

The Sony RF811 are specifically designed for TV; they come with a box which must be plugged in as well & transmits the sound. Would be useless for your phone/tablet.

The Phillips SHB8850NC/00 meanwhile would be decent for your phone & tablet. They connect with Bluetooth.
They use ANC (active noise-cancelling) to try to cancel-out soundwaves around you; however they are also on-ear so some sound may still be heard.

I just bought Audio Technica M40x for €109 in MusicMaker.
    Over-ear headphones with 2x cables.
Didn't even hear my room mate come in, start cooking & turn on the TV; they're very effective at blocking noise.

Thanks very much for your explanation and advice. I really would like to be able to listen to the TV with wireless headphones. I suppose that would be my priority. It's a Samsung smart TV that can screen mirror with my phone - I take it it doesn't have bluetooth though so won't work with those type of headphones.

Are there any of the TV type ones that also work as normal wired headphones with a phone/tablet? If not I may get TV ones and just normal wired ones too.

Some Samsung Tvs have built in bluetooth but no guarantee to work with third party devices
