took a old book to tax office tosee if i could get her taxed they said they had number on tax book on their files but diddnt know if the that was for same tractor,
fair enough isaid so what should ido,
there is two ways to do this, 1st way
is they would give me aform to take to my local garage with the tractor and for them to check serial number ,then stamp form iwould have to take this to asolictor and get him /her to stamp it as correct then send it back to tax officeif every checks out ican tax tractor if not ihave to do it the second way.

second way take tractor to vrt center let them look at the serial number[ give them 200 euro for the privlage] an get anew number and book and tax the tractor

thats alright but ihave to haul the tractor 80 mile round trip for vrt to confirm serial
when the local garage can confirm this for tax office  the mind boggles
200 euro plus price of getting lorry to vrt center an back , the law is an:confused: ass:confused: dont know why my local nct center which is 4mile from me cant confirm serial number or my local garage also 200euro for to look at number an nct only costs 55euro someone is having a laugh:mad:

I guess there are too many people buying tax books on done deal to use on a different tractor.

You have built a tractor from two different machines so unless you have the tax book that matches the chassis number you will have to go with option 2. Are you sure it's not the NCT who look after this? I'm pretty sure the NCT center's do all inspections for VRT.

Even if you have the correct tax book for your tractor you will need to get engine number updated on it.

yes vrt do look after all these but if one has alog book and try to do it through tax office it wll have to be checked out an verfied as i have wrote in number one option , if this does not check out with their records then it wll have to be reg for new log book via VRT CENTER , Only problem i have with this is it has to be done through the main vrt center in each county, dont see why a local vrt center could not vertify /confirm serail it would save alot of hassel and mybe more vintage tractor owners would be taxing their beloved tractors,

According to Revenue.ie NCT service looks after this.

"Vintage vehicle, for VRT purposes, means a vehicle which is shown to the satisfaction of Revenue to be more than 30 years old at the time of registration. Where a unique vintage vehicle is presented and the original documentation is not available, a declaration in respect of the vehicle particulars from an enthusiasts’ organisation or club which provides the data necessary for registration will be accepted at the NCTS. Additional documentation may be requested to satisfy the identity and age of the vehicle. The listed required documentation above must also be presented."

If you have the original documentation for this vehicle and it's details are correct, I would go back to tax office and speak to someone else or try a different tax office, you could also try and order the replacement documents from Shannon, you might not get as much issue if you had the modern green version.

Ok thanks for yopur reply I am going to foget about trying use the old book and just pay the 2 hundered euro
And get it sorted but why cannt my local nct center which is four mile from
Me confiirmI the serial .number . It
Means i will need to hire a Lorry to get to nct centre which is eighty miles round trip plus fee a lot of money to pay tax

If the old log book does belong to the tractor I WOULD NOT pay the €200 and end up with either a 'Year' or 'ZV' plate!
You will lose part of the tractor's history if you lose the original registration?!

It IS worth the hassle filling out the forms, etc in order to save the original reg plate.
