Horror/Thriller from Fede Alvarez. Pretty unique trailer - the trailer at the bottom is more traditional.

Out here on September 9th. The review stills in the top trailer say this is one of the best horrors in years (yeah, I know we've heard that before!) - Still, it looks great!

Ron Perlman terrifies people, you say? Well, I'm in :D

I saw a teaser trailer for it a while ago and have had it on my radar since, hopefully it'll be worthwhile.

Thats Stephen Lang not Perlman. Looks good.

Saw this today. Really really enjoyable thriller - well worth the price of admission.

Some of the plot points are a bit "what the f**k, this wasn't really necessary" but it's so uncomfortably disturbing you can forgive the over the top bits.

    Would recommend!

I caught it the other night and thought it was mostly excellent, with a slight drop towards predictable territory near the very end. But it's very well executed, and has a much better script than many such films - characters make mistakes which come back to bite them later, and the consequences are pretty brutal.

    Over-the-top and absolutely daft (
    rottweiler in an air vent?!?!
    but very good fun!

Enjoyed it more than the other recent horror of note, Lights Out.

Along with his Evil Dead remake, Alvarez shows some real talent here.

    Wasn't a fan of the ending (
with inevitable nods to a sequel!
), but other than that - very recommended!

Was a bit disappointed by it (my own expectations). Barring the blind man angle, it lifted far too much from the People Under the Stairs.

Felt like it should have been a grungier, more oppressive film to watch. Get under your skin more. That final act was daft. Felt like an after thought by the filmmakers.

Under 90 minutes though, which is always a plus.

Saw it the other night, well worth a watch. Kind of reminded me of Green Room, more so in terms of atmosphere than story.

An enjoyable enough film but the ending made no sense
(We're meant to believe the cops never discovered his dungeon and fridge full of man juice . Seriously ???)and smacks of the studio insisting they leave things open for a sequel.

The only way I can square it is that
he had hidden the body of the girl he kidnapped so only the burglar's corpses were found
. But it was still a weak and totally unnecessary coda.

is "the scene" as disturbing as they say?

It's so out of kilter with the rest of the film, that it jars too much. Doesn't feel disturbing. To be honest, it just comes across as ridiculous. As horrendous as the scenario is, it borders on laughable given that it comes so far out of left field.

The majority of the audience laughed in the screen I was in on Tuesday anyways..

.. it's too comic.. not disturbing at all.

Oh man I thought this would be rubbish and almost avoided it but I really really enjoyed it (maybe because I knew ZERO about it going in).

Had a bit of an 80's vibe to it but yet still felt fresh.

Not easy to create tension in a film that is pretty much set in one spot but it was executed well I thought.

Hope they make a sequel. I might go see it again in fact. Well worth watching.

Went into this blind… ahem… and thoroughly enjoyed. It never flagged and didn't outstay it's welcome. Totally OTT and ridiculous but it knows it. I never read up anything on it and for some reason I thought it was going to be more of a ghost and ghoulies thing. Well worth a watch.

Brilliant. Exciting. Tense and a bit ridiculous, but a lot of fun! Really enjoyed it having not expected much in the first place.

Watched this a couple of nights ago, must admit I was underwhelmed. It was a pretty standard home invasion thriller, and it got a bit silly with the whole basement scenes. I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to it a lot. Overall it was good, but not great. 6/10.

100% agree. Pretty rubbish to be honest, and I was also really looking forward to it.

When Alex saved Rocky from getting raped, there's no reason he shouldn't have ended The Blind Man there and then. Stupid and clichéd, but overall fun to watch and roll your eyes at.

    Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.

Cant understand why this has got such praise

I found its one of those movies that loses its magic on the small screen, i found it to be more intense in the cinema with the excellent sound quality and actually being able to see what was going on in the dark scene. The story is meh, its the fresh ideas elsewhere that most people took to i think :)

not bad, got a bit silly near the end, but over all enjoyable film to pass away the evening. 7/10

It started off well but it turned so silly towards the end.
Did reviewers just let them off completely with cliché after cliché?

    The silliest part IMHO was
she leaves the house, he goes back in for a jacket!
