There's 8 tvs in the house which we want saorview or something similar on. Is it possible to run that many tvs off of one aerial? Or is there a way to split / amplify?

Yes can can run multiple tv's from one aerial using a distribution amplifier but bear in mind that Saorview is not satellite , there's a terrestrial forum also that might be more in tune with your query.

Desktop PC Boards discount code on https://www.satellite.ie/ is boards.ie

8 TVs is quite a lot to say the least. Is there a TV in every room? We have 2 TVs in our house and with Sky + and 2 DTT PVRS we don't need any more TVs. If there's a 3 way clash of programmes (which is very rare) then I just record. As stated above an 8 way distribution amplifier is your answer.

If you have the possibility to use Cat5e or Cat6 ethernet cable you can distribute all Saorview channels to all TVs at the same time by using IP distribution from two tuners. The output can be used by smart TVs or by using small client devices at each TV.
Adding Satellite dish & tuners would allow something similar for the FTA Satellite channels.
There are now Sat LNBs which have the output on Cat 6 for 8 Sat tuners for distribution.
