Do you need an architect for tendering process?

Between 3 architects I've been quoted between €3k & €10k for the rendering process of our new build. Is it necessary to have an architect to do this? Could a novice such as myself do it?

You don't need an architect, there are other professionals out there that do it also.

    Re-self tendering:
Of course you could, no problem.
Whether you will get the best result is another story.

Thanks Calahonda52 for your replay. Who would be the other professional you could hire for this? Are you just comparing quotes? What is the advantage of third party doing it? What could I over look by doing it myself?

(Total newbe here. Just getting started in planning)

What do you mean by tendering process?

Do you mean just sending out design drawings for pricing by contractors?

    Or

Do you mean preparing tender/construction drawings and writing specifications and sending out for pricing by contractors?

    It's the second option

    It's the second option

You want to prepare a tender package. That's no problem.
    What insulation will you use?
What thickness will the floor slab be?
    What reinforcement will be required?
    What brick/block will be used?
    What render?
What radon provisions will be used?

The list goes on and on. Are you comfortable specifiying these items plus many more? If you miss something it becomes an extra and the builder will charge accordingly for extras.

Technically I can spec heart surgery, in reality could I, no.
