Shoulder length hair.... Advice needed

Hi. Posting on behalf of my brother. He suffers from social anxiety.

So, he has shoulder length hair which he normally just lets lie where it lies.

However, he's attending a wedding this weekend and wants it to look nice for the day.

Personally, I just go to the barber so I can't really advise him. Should he go to a hairdresser and get a blow dry and/or have it styled? Is that a thing?

What do people with longer hair do at times like this?

I think the pony tail is usually the way to go with these things.

My own hair is shoulder length. I would be inclined to just go with it tied up [ponytail] (in the formal area, church or photos) and then put it down again whenever he wishes. It really depends on what he's wearing with it IMO. But I'd tell your brother not to worry. I've noticed that a lot of Irish people these days have long hair and beards. I doubt he'll be the only one there with longer hair, and even if he is, its a cool look. :D

Oh. Check with him how his hair is pre or after a shampoo wash. My own hair is far more manageable two or three days after a wash (and looks better) than immediately after a wash. But ultimately, I'd say just go with what he's most comfortable with. Anyone who might have a problem is a muppet anyway. There willl be plenty of people with awful clothes styles, hats or overdone makeup. Thats what usually happens at weddings.

A wash & good conditioner (Aussie 3 minute miracle perhaps) and ponytail. Getting it styled or anything dramatic will bring attention on him and he won't enjoy that.

Cheers for the replies do far.

I think he's against a ponytail. He has an issue in that his hair looks great on day one just after a wash, but I'm days two and three starts to look greasy etc.

Perhaps the conditioner will work if he really wants to have it down and not in a ponytail.

Get a decent set of hair clips. You can slide them in the back and sides under the hair, to control the style he wants. (if done right, theyre invisible to anyone else) Girls do it all the time, and you can get ones that actually match his hair colour. And they're really easy to remove later when you get sick of it.

Its a decent alternative option. I used to have them when my hair was longer, and I was doing corporate training. ;)

Ponytail. For reference, been to weddings a-plenty and my hair is half-way down my back inching towards my waist and has been for years.

The pony tail doesn't have to be tight. He can have it rather loose and it'll still be casual enough.

Either way, I'd suggest he goes to a barbers and gets it tidied up. General maintenance wise he'll still need the ends trimmed every now and then.
