Anyone else find it strange that there are no chartered accountants ( ACAs ) on the boards of IAASA?

2 out of 8 members of the board are solicitors - on the overarching body for accounting bodies in Ireland.

The website for IAASA says it does the following:
the examination of certain listed entities’ annual and half-yearly financial reports
to deliver independent and effective supervision of the Prescribed Accountancy Bodies

On the other hand they can look in to the behaviour of auditors - wonder if they'll get stuck in to the Anglo controversy?

To avoid self-regulation, or the perception of it...?

More than likely is going to be to avoid being seen as meddling being the biggest body. If the biggest accountancy body in a country starts taking all the places on the boards of the regulatory body it would be seen as if they are trying to meddle.

It's going to be to avoid controversy
