Recently had these watch's passed down to me and I'm wondering can anyone give me an idea on their value? I'm not looking to sell them but interested in knowing what they are worth.

On a side note is it possible to have a "service" carried out on them to keep them in good condition or is it not needed? If it's recommended is there a particular agent in Dublin I should call to?

Dunno about values as this can vary a lot, but that IWC looks odd to me. Or at least I've never seen a model like that.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I've recently bought a Submariner and the 1 in the pic there just doesn't look right to me, looks too clean to be the vintage it's making out to be, the engraved case back doesn't look right either, what's the handsweep like?

This is a good starting point to spot a Rolex https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-blog/rolex-info/the-top-ten-ways-to-spot-a-fake-rolex.html

Personnally, if I inherited items like those I'd be heading to a good valuators to get an accurate estimate and getting the put on the house insurace

Don't know about the Prince or the IWC, but pretty sure that Sea Dweller is a replica.

I'll try snap some better pictures of the sea dweller, where would be best to go to get them all checked for authenticity?

If you're in Dublin probably Dawson jewellers. None of the staff in the likes of Weirs, Paul Sheerans etc will be able to tell just by looking. They need to have the case backs removed and the movements inspected properly by a watchmaker.

Have never seen an IWC like that before

A regularly and fully AD serviced watch is worth more than a watch that hasn't been serviced. A watch that has been serviced by a good horologist with a good reputation is somewhere inbetween that but at the higher end.

A valuable mechanical should be serviced as the oils slowly evaporate and luminous compounds break down etc gunking up the works and can cause expensive to repair damage. Especially chronographs like the IWC.

Are there any papers for the watches? this will increase the valuation.

The top one is a Rolex Cellini Prince - not something that is faked too often (from what I'm aware).

The IWC is another watch that isn't faked too often (again, from what I'm aware).

The sea dweller is a regularly faked watch, but on the balance of probability (3 nice watches, 2 not commonly faked) it could well be genuine (and rolex had rubbish bracelets for years, rest of the watch looks quite good, but hard to tell until the mechanism is looked at, but again you need to know what you are doing to open the back up).

If they are genuine with papers then >5K for the prince, >2K for the IWC and >5K for the sea dweller. That's a conservative 5 min google.

3 lovely watches covering a broad spectrum of occasions - very nice, thanks for sharing and commiserations on losing a loved one.

    Bargain.

OP, bring the watches to Weirs, , Dawson Jewellers or similar, they'll let you know in minutes. The first thing I'd ask myself though, was my relative the kind of guy who would/could buy genuine watches of this type?

Cant manage to get a good close up on the sea dweller with my phone, if its any additional help under a magnifying class I can see a crown etched into the glass, I'm sure its something that counterfeiters are well able to do aswell though.

I don't have paper's of yet but there's a chance they will become available shortly, what I do know is that they were likely purchased in London where he resided, and I would be quite surprised if they were replica's as it wouldn't tie together with him or his estate, I've some additional jewelry ect (cartier rings) that's certified/receipt from a london store, but stranger things have happened!

I'll update when I do get a chance to have them looked over and valued by a shop in the know either way's.
