Hi guys, our family has reached that stage where we need to seriously consider getting a 7 seater. I've done a bit of research and have it narrowed to Ford Galaxy/S Max, Toyota Verso or Kia Caren.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on these. Would I be right in saying the S MAx/Verso and Caren are similar enough in size/space, with the Galaxy being the biggest?

Any and all advice greatfully appreciated!

S-Max way bigger than the Verso, we found the Verso very narrow when in the same boat but also the Galaxy too big so we went with the S-Max, rock solid from day 1 and ours will be going up on Adverts and Carzone next week

    Id highly recommend an s-max.
Lovely and solid on the road. Good poke for overtakein.
Only downside is the lack of boot when usein 7 seats .

If you want a boot go with the galaxy.

Id also stay well away from a verso.
I had an avensis verso before the smax and it was horraible to drive , and not half as solid on the road as the smax.

I will 100% buy another smax when the time comes.

S max is definitely the better option. I've had a verso for 3 years and it is a fine option, but I drove an smax last week and it really is far superior. Galaxy is like a minibus.

Thanks so much for the responses, theres nothing better than hearing from people who actually have the cars.

I think that is the SMAX is the one to go for ( though I 'm still going to try and look at a 7 seater X-Trail!)

have QQ+2 2012, we have 6 of us in it almost daily, no problem with space unless you want to go shopping with a car load, in which case we use our roof box :)

we considered changing this year but decided against it, couldn't find anything to compare with specs (panoramic roof, park camera all electrics satnav bluetooth) etc etc, reliability (55000 kms in 2 years not one problem) @175k kms now. Mpg 50mpg real world all day, 110 bhp pulls well enough even when loaded.

it isnt the biggest mpv but it can be made to work

Of the ones you have listed, I would recommend the S-Max. It's not as big as the Galaxy but it's big enough for most families. Watch out for the Clutch & Flywheel which tends to go on them (Mine cost €1,000 to replace on an '08 model and that was actually a good deal). Consider the Nissan Qashqui+2 or Mazda5 with Sliding Door (very handy). Bring the kids + Car Seats + buggies etc along for the test drive to see how they all fit. I found the Verso too small. I've no experience with the Kia. Citroen Picasso was nice & stylish but was underpowered (1.6 Diesel) & started to show electrical gremlins after a while. Make sure you have enough Pulling Power (Minimum 115BHP) to Safely get yourself & family out of awkward situations e.g. stuck behind a slow tractor or truck. Nothing worse than giving her wellie and waiting for ages for her to move.
