Hoping someone can help me solve it.

    8 ? 4 ? 6 = 6 ? 7 ? 4

    The signs I can use are + - x :

By the way what is : in an equation.

My guess is that is the division sign to give you the full deck
see about half way down here

OK, since we are on mathematical fun, try this one on for size

you have the following parts of an equation,

    2, 3, 4, 5, +, =

    make an equation that balances.

Do we have to use them all? It doesn't say so.
    If not then 2 + 3 = 5.

    Or
2 4 = 3+5 coz multiplication assumed in the absence of a sign?

    The answer is pie

I'm also stuck on a mathematical equation, why does the mathematical proof that 1+1=2
    extend to over 400 pages?

    Why is it so complex!!

(The proof is set out in Principia Mathematica if anyone ends up giving in.)

you have to use all the numbers and there is a legitimate answer.

you can only use the + once.

    Aha, I got it.
    3 (to the power of 2) = 4 + 5.

Where did the . materialise from?

    2
    3=4+5 (can't find superscript. 3 squared)

    It's an old puzzle.
