Hi all, myself and the o/h are in the market for new phones, and we are thinking of changing from iPhones (we have only ever had iPhones since the smartphone revolution).
We are on sim only packages and want to buy decent sim free android phones.
We have a budget of €200 (ish) per phone, and they can't be bigger than 5inch(4 to 4.5inch would be ideal)
Memory would have to be upgradable to 64gb, would like a decent front camera and possibly dual sim but that's not a deal breaker.
I had a cheap Samsung work phone a few years ago and hated it as it was slow and froze constantly, so I haven't been too hot on them since.
Can anyone recommend a phone to us?
    Thank you.

Moto g is €89 on from meteor.ie at moment and it'll lock to the network of the first sim inserted so if you're on anotber network that's not a problem.

Well, get an expensive Samsung one. Sure you will have no problems with performance.
As to recommendations, there are plenty affordable models on the market. I'd go check for well-established Chinese brands like Huawei, or Xiaomi and Meizu. Many of them have dual-sim inexpensive models with specs similar to you describe.

You can't buy a 'decent' phone for €200. Not if your idea of decent is an iPhone, which costs 3-4 times that.

A Zuk Z1 would meet your demands or at least come close. Very high spec for the price.

It'll be hard to beat the Motorola G 4th Gen, the networks should have them out in the next few weeks when stocks of the 3rd gen are gone, hence meteor dropping the price on the 3rd gen trying to flush out stock.
It'll be around €150 to €180 when it launches shortly, you won't get better for your money without spending a lot more http://www.trustedreviews.com/motorola-moto-g-review

If you want to get into the VR the Alcatel Idol 4 and 4s are also on the way, you'll be up around €300 for one of those http://www.alcatel-mobile.com/smartphones/idol4-4s/

If it was me I'd buy the Moto G 4th Gen when it launches.

Looks good, but unfortunately screen is too large.

I also find most smartphones to be too large so always go with Sony compact phones. Currently on a Z5 Compact which is fantastic, having moved from a Z1 Compact, which I also loved. Would recommend both as excellent choices.

Great quality cameras too as per your OP and easy to add some storage if needed.

I got mine on Amazon UK and it was 289 GBP I think. Got it cheaper because it's pink. I'll happily be pink to save a few quid. Quality phone though.

Ordered a Moto G 3 from meteor (thanks Frosty!) figured as we were making the move to android we shouldn't be spending much in case we don't take to them.
Nice phone but wish it was a bit smaller, I think the iPhone 5 was the perfect size, getting hard to get a phone less than 5inch.

What you've done is said I've always liked Ford cars and have a Ford Mondeo, I want to buy a Audi, then you've gone for an A3 when you really need an A4/6 to compare like for like.

You've also picked a phone with a large bezel. Don't go by screen size, go by the actual size of the phone. The Samsung S7 Edge is 5.5" and practically the same size as the HTC M8(5").

Thanks for that Father, I love that analogy.
I did ask for recommendations for a particular sized phone, around a particular budget and gave a bit of history of what we were used to.
I really don't expect my €90 Motorola to be similar to my €700 iPhone. If I enjoy my Android experience I may purchase an 'Audi A6' in the future, but for now I will play around with the android system and form my own opinion on it.
