not my house exactly, but I'd be willing to bet a bit on the success of the NX, and they're pretty low right now so I think its a good time

Low? they are c.20k yen, where they spent most of the 5 - 10 years at 10 - 15k yen. They are still very high. I think any small success of the NX is already priced in and if it falls anywhere short of expectations, expect a serious drop. My 2 cents for what its worth is you are too late to the party.

yeah what I'd be betting on the NX being a much bigger than projected for a few reasons, the stock rocketed after the success of the wii and dwindled steadily for most of the last decade

Yes betting being the key word here. In my view, you regret not getting on the weird pokemon bang wagon, and have now convinced yourself for another reason to buy Nintendo.

The wii at the time was kind of game changing, it was something exciting and fresh to the market and hence the abnormal price movement i believe. The NX wont be, it will be underwhelming when compared to other consoles. Good for nostalgia yes, good for investing in - no!

How long have you been looking at Nintendo may i ask?

Its your money at the end of the day so go for it, I just think it isnt a very well thought through purchase is all.

Would be interested to hear other views?

    yep its definitely betting,

I've been a gamer all my life, following the different success and failure of the different consoles and have been thinking about nintendo shares in the last two years since they began moving into mobile gaming and rumours of the nx leaking,

I think shares are what they are right now because of the well preforming 3ds over the last few years versus the massive wii u failure,

Some of the reason I think the NX is going a big success is because they are essentially combing their handheld and home console, it means double the first party titles for the consolidated system, the reported line-up for the first year of release looks impressive, theres also reported big third party support for the system

So you've been following them closely since they went into mobile gaming but not close enough to get on the Pokemon go train? Odd.

Shares are where they are now due to people buying in on the back of pokemon go and people hoping, very much so hoping, for another rise, unsure what will drive it.

Will be hoping it works out for you, i just wouldn't be too sure is all.

    Good luck with the purchase.

Yep there was a hike in share price due pokemon go over the last month which has largely come back down and continues to drop, I was speaking in relation to the general trend over the last 5-10 years,

Not sure why its odd I 'didnt get on the pokemon go train' pokemon go didnt look particularly impressive before launch but nintendo moving into mobile gaming in general looks promising.

My intention would be to buy after it settles back down from the pokemon go blip, and before the NX launch,

    Anyways thanks for your comments

It is unclear how much Nintendo will benefit from the Pokemon Go success, which most who jumped on the bandwagon seemed to miss.

The game has been good for developer Niantic. Since it's a mobile game, it has also been good for Apple and Alphabet via in-app purchases.
