Why has the red button been disabled?

    This too shall pass.

The Olympics is the short answer. IOC take a very hard attitude to their rights.

I had no trouble with the red button stuff 4 years ago.

    This too shall pass.

Dont have sky, using freesat. But why all the difficulties? Is it something to do with RTE already having the rights to broadcast in Ireland? Could the same happen with Freesat eventually or in the future, and the BBC block sports on Red Button or Radio if your box is connected to the internet?

The IOC are ridiculously protective about their rights.

BBC Red Button not coming back to Sky Ireland after the Olympics, see here from Sky Rep:

I'll believe that when I see it for myself. Sky reps in another thread said there were no plans for Irish channels on Sky Go and less than two weeks later what appeared? RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3 and UTV Ireland

That's true, it's hard to take their 'advice' seriously.

It's been so frustrating as 4 years ago the red button was magic. Gutted to find out here that the red button is gone permanently. I'll look at the manual tuning tonight.

It's a different freq above in Static post than on the bbc site.

Not sure which one worked for me but one of them did, as I had a problem with 4/5/6 also but working fine now.

    Static Freq is 10862.
The one on the BBC site is 10729

Try the one you havn't tried and should work.

If it helps, mine are confirmed from a few satellite websites, as well as what is working on my boxes in Leinster.
