new house - tv points - help

    Hi Guys,
    just one quick question. I'm planning to build a new house soon from scratch.

    Trying to work out what cable sockets do I need at my TV points:

    Do I need two coax's for sky and sky plus recording?

    do I need another coax for my normal saorview tv viewing?

    and whats with cat6 cables do I need them for tv?

    any info is appreciated.. thanks

    Posted in two parts:

    1.
    Put Cat6 ethernet to every room ....... at least one outlet. Bring them back to a central location - call it media room or media press - at a central location for distribution from a router/switch to all parts of the house. Use ducting where possible for the Cat6 (not necessary, but costs little and might be advantageous later.

    Bring in ducting from your boundary to this room/press to give easy access for services such as telephone, broadband, fibre etc.
    Make allowances for multiple co-ax cable to enter from a Sat Dish (and maybe Saorview aerial) and reach the media press/room without hindrance. Be sure to make arrangements for a 'pull-cord' in case you need something else to come in later (maybe Cat6 cable from a SAT>IP LNB on the dish for example).

    Part 2.

    If you need Sky channels distributed around the house (as opposed to FTA Satellite TV) then look into using Sky Q. (no co-ax needed at the TV points)

    If going FTA Satellite and Saorview Terrestrial, then also look at distributing that via IPTV in the home. It can use ethernet cable, wifi or homeplugs for distribution. Benefits include no absolutely fixed outlet, and all devices like tablets, phones, PCs etc can receive the TV channels. Also no need for co-ax cable runs in awkward places.
