I have a vu+ solo2 with vu turbo dvb digital terrestrial tuner. I wish to make a clean custom channel list with just the channels that I watch from the various sources, freesat/saorview without having to switch using "providers" button. Doable?

Yes, very doable. The software you need is called dream box edit and it will allow you to sort channels into as many or as few lists as you like. Channels can appear in multiple list if required.

If it is SaurView and Freesat I would recommend using the AutoBouquet maker to generate the bouquets and then copy the SaorView channels into the same bouquet as the freest ones.

Thanks for that Shane. Unfortunately I am an auld lad and would not be able to execute these instructions. If you had any links to English tutorials/guides I would appreciate them

    Thanks again P

If you have a look in here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?46470-ABM-Combine-Freesat-with-Saorview/page3&highlight=irish .They have a good guide and a full
channel mix . You need to download the channel mix and copy it to the box .Its very easy once you get your head around it .

You can also do this via remote, which is admittedly slower.

Press UP to see the channel list, flick up/down to the channel you want, then click MENU and select 'add service to bouquet' (or press 5) and then click on 'Favourites (TV)'. You can add any channel (terrestrial or satellite) to this bouquet.

To switch to the Favourites bouquet, press the blue button.

You can also change the channel order by pressing MENU then 'enable move mode'.

Hope you guys don't mind me opening this thread up again.

I'm in this boat at the moment and I notice from the WOS thread that the providers to be scanned are Sky-ROI and Saorview rather than FreeSat and Saorview.

I have always assumed FreeSat and Saorview were the correct providers to get the max out of my combo box.

Am I wrong and if so should I just be scanning Sky-ROI and Saorview then use the file included in post #27 in the WOS thread to get a combined EPG in logical order for us Irish lads?

You can set it to Freesat.

In "AutoBouquetsMaker", you can choose whatever you want. The options are:

    Freesat(UK)
    Freeview(UK)
    Saorview
    Sky(ROI)
    Sky(UK)

You can have the box scan whatever combination you want.

    Thanks John,

Is there a best/recommended combination of providers to give us the best/optimum selection of channels? Are there channels on Sky which aren't on FreeSat and vice versa? Would scanning both Sky and FreeSat result in duplication of channels or channels which are pay per view only and therefore not worth clogging up the EPG with?

You could scan them all and then add channels from one provider to another to make a combined list. But If you have the box set to rescan the providers every night, then your list would be undone.
You could scan Saorview and Freesat and then add the Saorview channels to the Freesat list. And just rescan if any of the Freesat channels move frequency. And dont set the box to rescan every night.
