Is it that hard to be a video editor/filmmaker in Dublin?

    Hi folks,

    I'm a video editor/cinematographer from Taipei, Taiwan.
Currently live in Dublin 2 months so far.

I'm stuck in looking for a similar job as what I do in Taipei.

I'm wondering how this industry works here,
there's no vacancy on job pages,
is there any other way that I might can try?

    It's my portfolio: lichiyue.com

I'll be very appreciated if someone can give me some tips.

    Hi lichiyue

I'll probably be looking for a footage editor in a few months, I have an idea in my head, I'll be shooting RAW on DJI ZENMUSE X5R, it's all just an idea now, but looking for funding, if it happens I'll need somebody like you.

The industry here works by word-of-mouth and generally the positions are not advertised on job boards. There is quite a lot of editing work starting up in September.

What editing software do you use? Mostly, it's Media Composer here used in conjunction with Avid Unity, for collaboration. Also some Premier Pro work and FCPX is gaining momentum. What are your language skills like?

There are a few Facebook groups to try:

    and also

You could try contacting the larger post production companies to see if they have any vacancies or freelance work available:

    Windmill Lane Pictures
    Screenscene
    EGG
    Piranha Bar

There are a few others as well.

    Good luck with your search

Without wanting to hijack this thread, now that some of you video people are looking- where is good in Dublin to learn about Premier Pro/ After Effects.

I mainly do still photography, but I want to get into shooting some video and higher quality timelapse than Ive done so far.
