New vacuum cleaner

So I'm looking for a new vacuum cleaner, currently have had a Dyson for a few years, think it might be a DC 39 and not finding it great. We have a mix of tiles, wood and carpet, and in particular on carpet it just pushes hairs/dust into a big clump rather than actually suctioning it up! In general the auction isn't as good as it was.

So thinking of buying something news typical 3 bed semi house, with mix of floors, don't really have a set budget as not sure how much I 'need' to spend to get something half decent but if possible would love to stick within 100/150 ish. If a few quid more would buy something way better I'm open to it though.

Had a look for other threads but most seem at least a few months old!

Maybe a Vax. I have one and while it does the job, its not safe to carry by the handle and the dust drum thingy falls to bits when I take it off, but then its 90 euro or something

How often do you change the filter in the Dyson.
They also do a refurb at home option, about 90 euro
The other idea is to have one upstairs and one downstairs

    Henry.

They are no fuss, no tricks excellent vacuum. 10m cord with manual wind. 3m hose, brush tool is very handy and they just do the business. Massive suction, quiet motor and a hepa filter.

In your price range. Every hotel uses them as they just do the job.

I have the Henry hoover. Couldn't recommend it enough. Mine is six years old still as good and powerful as the day I bought it.

Use it on all surfaces not a bother.

Actually just checked the old one and it's a dc38 so guessing that's an older model maybe.

Will check out the Henry, thanks!

Stupid question but I've only ever washed out the filter for the Dyson because that's what it said in the manual originally. Would a new filter make a big difference do you think? Looks like they're about 30 eur and don't want to buy one if its not gonna be much help and I still end up needing to buy something new.

Don't really have room to store one upstairs so prefer one that can be just carried around relatively easily.

I meant wash, I have come across quite a few that never knew it was there.
Just rinsed out in cold water.....? no soap/hot water/ etc?
One test is take it out and see what difference there is in the suction, there will be some but if there is a big difference then,,,,
The other point is have you ever cleaned out the top bit?
    Is it choked?

    Is the Henry bagless?

The Henry is not bagless, but does use large bags which are quite cheap compared to some others.

Sadly, the newer Henry's have a lower power motor than the predecessors, time will tell how good they are now, reliability wise.

    Have you considered Miele?
