Never heard if that method before  ,

Magnetic filter installation cost is hugely dependant on space and access to existing pipework. Some are straightforward and all done in a couple of hours, others can be a huge effort and quite expensive.

700 with boiler service, and taking off one rad and empty out sludge and reattach.
cutting of a old unused gas pipe thats a eye soar -cuttting it in above room in a wardrobe . its already cut and capped in room below but is a visble eye soar

You'd be better off spending your money on a professional.
Get somebody to powerflush your system properly. No rads need be removed. Get them to install a mag filter when finished. Removing rads and sticking a hose in the end of it to rinse it out is a thing of the past, and is only half doing the job

I think thats what he wants to do. i just asked him to also remove the one troublesome rad and flush it out too. so is that price about right? i think he is competent. And he is certified. So is that price bout right ?

If he is "Power Flushing" the heating system and supplying and fitting a Fernox or Adey Pro 2 Mag filter (presuming easy enough access to fit correctly) he is not too far off the mark.
But if he is using a chemical to "dissolve the sludge over 30 days" as you describe in your first post, then "flush out" the system afterwards, you are wasting your money.
If done properly, with correct equipment, there should be no need to remove a radiator.

As k. Flyer said. If you don't see him using a machine then the price is wayyyyy too high.
You say certified, certified to do what?

Ok. Just beware some guys will call it a flush or chemical flush. This isn't powerflushing. They're worlds apart

Its this bit of your post that would give cause for concern as to what type of job you are getting.

Rads are reasonably cheap just replace the troublesome Rad like for like with a new one and thats your main problem sorted.
Then get the Magna cleaner installed and add inhibitor which will help going forward.
But as the lads have said a proper power flush is the least you should be getting and for less than quoted.

Replacing the rad doesn't solve anything it just possibly gets rid of the symptoms temporarily.

Op - you need to check out your system first.
Make sure it is balanced properly, no air, pipes connected at proper locations, pump set properly etc......

We don't have any details on your system.

Are you fitting a new boiler?

If there is four years left on your existing boiler you will then need another powerflush to fit a new boiler.

Why do you believe you need a powerflush?
