    Evening all.
Just back from dentist as a bit of my tooth came off my molar which has root canal, after xray dentist said I'm lucky it's only a small bit and has offered a repair but recommends a crown.

I thought he'd just filed the sides down and pop on the crown, but he said he'd have to put in a post ......now I'm nervious I though only implants had posts.

I'm so sad about this as I always feel older when I have dental problems.

A post is a very common thing to do to help hold a crown on a rootcanal treated tooth. See here

So will he have to remove the whole tooth above the gum to put post in.

Generally not, that video is a bit misleading there, you save as much as you can above the gum, post in and fill the void. Crown over the top, job done.

Well I'm getting the final part of the crown done next week.

It was the worst experience in a dental chair ever, I thought he was going to pull out all of my teeth when taking a mould and the smell of burning gums isn't nice.
