    Hi all,

    Im looking for some info.

Ive been in a temporary position for the past 12 years in the same school. (Fixedterm) never made fulltime.

As of June I was let go.. not entitled to redundency, panel or anything.

Now a job is after coming up in the same school and I have been informed I will not be offered it, and it will infact go to a women who is there for 6 months due to the fact she is pernament.

Can anyone see how this is allowed? This just seems zo obscene to me and totally unfair?

As far as I know there is a union for S.N.A.s.I can't comment on the situation myself, but I would give the union a call and see what they say.

What kind of contract did you have. Since 2005 all snas had the last in first out contract so I don't understand how you were not permanent.

    Edited to add:
Did you have child specific contract? Has the child now left? If this is the case then the school are correct.

Hi, no itz not a child contract i was a class sna in a special school on a fixed term contract renewed each year, no body can see to understand it even the dept of edu,

What contract did you have? I've never heard of this happening before. There is only one contract for snas. Issued by the department of education. Just doesn't make sense to me. How can you be fixed term for 12 years?
Are there other SNA in the school since you started? We're other let go who arrived before or after you? Very confusing.

Lady north basically what it was,

She was there in the school for 12 years in a fixed term contract (temporary) which she was covering a job share (two people with full time done jobshare so i got the full time job, so i have been in that position for 12 years but now due to cutbacks i am gone along with 3 others,

A job is after coming up, but due to the fact i am not pernament i have not been even offered the job but someone who has been pernament for 1 year has been offered it above me

    Its extremely complicated

Ok. So you were covering someone else's job while they were job sharing? Is that right?
If that's the case then I'm sorry to say the school is correct. Any cover post does not give you panel rights or redundancy as it was never your job. It was always belonging to someone else.
The only time you'll get panel rights etc is if you are made redundant from your own post. If you are covering sick leave, career break, maternity or filling in a job share post them you don't. I'm sorry to be the barer of bad news but that's how it is.
Happened to a girl in our school. She covered a career break for two years. Person decided not to come back and she was let go and the job given to someone who had panel rights.

It is very confusing but from what you've said unfortunately it's how it is.

    Just one more question,
People keep on mentioning it regarding that i should have been made pernament after 4 years, do u know if theres any truth in it?

No sorry, that was never the case for snas. Teachers can get some sort of contract after working for certain number of years in one school but not us.
Once you were covering someone then it was always going to be their job. I know it seems unfair but you were probably ill advised to stay in that position for so long. It was never going to become your job.

Your best bet now is to just start applying for jobs. There's lots out there at the moment. Your experience will stand to you.

Wish I could have had more positive news.
