    Which engine?

Tensioner is where the T is marked on the image. Undo the bolt using a spanner and it will release the belt. There should be a cover over part of the belt which may be covering the tensioner though. At least you know where it should be in relation to the rest of the pulleys though!

    1.4 and 1.6:

Sorry found an older thread. There is no tensioner, its a stretch belt. Brute force and stupidity sorted it.

    1.4 lx

Stretch belt? Never heard of those. I've only seen tensioners or the belt being tensioned by an adjustable alternator bracket.

Micksgarage lists a tensioner for the 1.4.
Fairly standard Ford tensioner which has an internal spring and you simply turn the bolt head in the centre of the wheel to release the tension. Can't remember if it's clockwise or not, but it's pretty obvious which way releases the tension.

Those stretch belts are bastards to get on.

    Anti-clockwise.

    Yes they are 😔

There is no tensioner lads. There is a special ford tool required to get it on.

Had another look around and it seems it's only the models with air-con that definitely have the tensioner.:o
