I do a small bit of pistol shooting mostly Gallery shooting, using a Hammerli x-esse, I have looked online at the ISSF style pistols and this caught my eye 6 round mag as well so could be used at club target shooting as well as some of the Gallery events,
Any of you Olympic style shooters or guys using these style pistols give me any advice on a 6 round ISSF style pistol I would be looking at a rapid fire model.

I know ofcourse I would have to restrict to 5 rounds. Looking for info on the quality of the pistol and who in Ireland deals in these pistol used or new, or do I look at bringing it in from Europe ?

The ISSF rules require that there's no more than 5 rounds in the gun at any stage so I'd doubt there are many people around with experience of using them with 6 round magazines. The grips are usually very one handed so they may not be quite as comfortable to shoot two handed as something more commonly used for gallery pistol. I know clivej has/had a Feinwerkbau AW93 that I think he used for non-ISSF shooting, so maybe he can give you pointers on shooting non-ISSF events with an ISSF pistol.

I'm surprised Morini are even making a 6 round magazine given their usual audience but I suppose it's worth their while trying to broaden their market. It might be worth double checking that they don't mean "5 in the magazine and 1 up the spout".

Someone hit me hard for selling that AW93, seemed like a good idea at the time. I've gone thru 4 or 5 other handguns now and and just gave it all up.

Gallery shooting with a handgun requirements are 5 round mags only for the 6 shot matches, use another mag to strip a round off before dropping that mag and inserting a 5 round to compete.
Except for the lucky few that have restricted licenses on their .22 handguns to allow 6 round mags.

My AW93 had the single right hand grip but it was not a problem to shoot two handed with it. I had a 11mm rail fitted so that I could use a red dot sight with it.

The nearest handgun to anywhere as good as the AW93 is a Ruger hunter that had a Volquatsen 2 stage trigger fitted with wide blade, sights replaced and the grip replaced.
Those mods make the Ruger handgun great IMO.

thanks for the replies guys, looking at the morini tech data it lists mag capacity as 6 but will check it out, the grip isn't a problem as I have changed the ambidextrous grip on the xesse to the sports grip and prefer it.

Some of the reasons I was looking at the ISSF style pistols I was thinking they would have a better recoil system to get back on to a target quicker, maybe better accuracy from the pistol, more adjustability, grip angle.

I will have to try someones pistol out sometime and see how it compares to shooting the xesse.

You'd be welcome to try my Pardini any time. Olympic standard. 5 shot mag. Right hand grip. Adjustable base plate. Adjustable rear sights, left to right and up/down.

However due to the shape of the barrel (square end), you'd have to get a specialised holster made to hold it if you were going to be doing gallery pistol with it. They're not made normally as the olympic comps don't require hostering during competition.
