We saw a 141 car for sale in a Dublin dealers on Carzone on Friday last.

Did a check and the result said it was a UK car and recommended the full check.

The check returned no UK history other than the previous reg but the number was not in the correct UK format.

CMA14G was the result which if you try to check will give no results.

Any thoughts on how this can happen ?

When we looked at the car on Saturday, it was obvious that something bad had happened to the front. panels, bonnets and grill not lining up properly.

If you can access the logbook see what reg is says was previous. That reg number doesn't look correct. The service history should also list the correct UK reg.

That reg is a personal reg number - it is a 1968 reg that has been transferred to the car. You need to look at the reg document that will give the original UK registration (CMA14G) and you can then get onto the UK authorities to check it out.

Dubious history and obvious crash damage not repaired properly. Why are you still pursuing it?

What's the Irish 141 Reg no?

    Not pursuing it at all.

Just wondered how this could happen with the reg.

I had considered the personal number plate but presumed that no matter what UK number was, there would be history and the only result was the date of original registration.
