    Hi:

I'm using an old sky dish and receiver for the free to air channels, and it stopped working a few months back, the dish not moved and the cable looks OK, could anyone let me know how to get the free to air back?

If I get a professional to look at it, would that be expensive to fix it?

You can't tell if the dish or cable are okay just by looking at them, you'll have to try a different cable and grab a signal meter from Ebay to see if it's still aligned.

Has signal strength dropped to zero on all channels or is there still something coming through? Your device should have a way of measuring signal strength.

If you can borrow a known working box from a friend it will show if the dish and cabling are intact.

Are you seeing a no signal error on all channels or something else?
Have you checked that the cable is secure going in to the back of the box, even try removing and reconnecting to be sure?
When it stopped working was it around a time of bad weather?

9 times out of 10 this problem is the dish has moved, in most cases unless the dish relatively new it's a new dish your looking at, around €50 plus fitting as it won't be poossible to realign your current one as it will be rusted beyond help.
