Trying to search/book one-way ticket for Wexford to Dublin but all trains are coming up as "Not Available"

It doesn't specifically say it's full, cancelled, or anything that means I ishould seek aternate arrangments. No price is coming up and I can't select tickets to proceed.

Tried other dates, return journey but no success. Tried a different line (e.g. Cork to Dublin) and it seems fine.

I've sent a note to irish rail support, but I need to book today/tomorrow morning so should I just look at the bus option instead?

It just means that they're not selling online tickets.

You can still buy tickets at the station.

    What dates are you trying?

Certain trains such as the 05:35 from Rosslare and the 16:37 from Connolly are operated by suburban stock and cannot be booked online.

Part of the "run down" strategy prior to consultants recommending closure of the route! CIE up to their old tricks and we keep falling for them.

Those trains may well also be plenty full of commuters if not chronically overcrowded (thanks to irish workers love for 9 to 5 working hours) so it makes no sense to entice even more people to use them.

Anyway, they should just turn-up and buy a ticket at the station. I never heard of IE turning passengers away due to overcrowding on the Rosslare line.

They should have closed that rosslare line long time ago more hassle than it is worth .keeping open

Make sure you are selecting Wexford to Connolly, it will come up as not available if you enter Wexford to Heuston.

First reason is Comprehensive was spelt wrong . Lol .
Its just not paying irish rail to keep it going well off constructing a greeenway on it instead . Passenger numbers are very poor . Irish rail want profit not loss . Hope this explains the reasons . Everyone has an opinion interesting to read them .

neither is 99% of the network. however, it is a vital public service paid for by us all and intrusted to the state to run it.
well off constructing a greeenway on it instead.

no thanks. plenty of areas where a greenway can be put that won't remove a service many depend on, and which keeps those people actually using public transport just about, rather then taking the car (and no, we have busses won't work just incase you try that one)
    Passenger numbers are very poor.

well thats what happens when you provide a rubbish service and treat a line very badly.
Irish rail want profit not loss.

well they should have thought about that when they decided to get out of freight and sell off all the yards, along with all the other businesses they could have improved. irish rail is not a commercial company, it's a social service with some commercial interests who relie on me and the rest of the people to mostly keep it afloat. i don't mind contributing to it, but i expect them to provide me with a good quality service in return (which they don't)
if they stop relying on the people then they can do what the hell they like. until then they will operate the existing rail network to the best of their ability, something they aren't really doing.
the railway is a public asset, other countries have woken up to this fact. the simple proffit and loss argument was tried, it doesn't work for public services.

As FYI I ended up on the bus. I arrived a few hrs early to get tickets sorted for the train, allowing some time to wander around the city & grab some dinner. Had also been looking at bus options which were cheaper, more often and shorter journey time.

Just as I arrived at the station a bus to Dublin pulled up, so I paid the driver and jumped on. 17 euro and arrived home a lot earlier than planned. Was also able to get off before town, about 15 mins walk from home, saving even more time.
