I highly recommend the Shield,it's by far the best Android device on the market. Can handle most tasks with ease. You might pick up some info on This thread here.

I have one and although I've not tried any other android TV device, I can't fault the Shield.
I use it mainly for Chromecast, Kodi, Plex and the Nvidia Games treat (to let me play my Steam games in my living room). It performs all functions with no issues.
I got it with a remote and game controller but you can also control it with your phone via the Android TV control app which is really handy.

You wait for Amazon to have another promotion on it like others did.

That could take months. I can't see myself holding on for more than a week or two. Anywhere else having promo deals?

It's currently at an all time high of £163 sterling on Amazon which is much more than I'd be willing to spend on it

The deals on the Shield can pop-up anytime,so keep an eye out for another bit or I'm sure you can buy from Nvidia UK and use parcel motel.

I have one here sitting in it's box(not opened,16GB),I already have two of my own.But I'm waiting to hear from a friend to see if he wants to buy it.

Hello blacknight, how are you powering off the device when you do?
A long press of the back button on the remote brings up the power menu, where I normally select turn off/shutdown.When it powers off I usuall just switch it off at the mains then till the next day,I just switch on the mains and it turns itself on.

Try unplugging(remove all cables) the device fully for 15 mins and plug it back in and see if that helps, using the method above.

Hi bazzz, pressing back button until i get power down, restart and sleep.

So when i power it down, I don't unplug from wall only way i get it back on is by pulling out of socket or actually pressing power button on the shield its self

Also do you have yours hardwired or wifi noticed the wifi is a bit sketchy when waking up from sleep mode

Might do a hard reset but having set up kodi repos its a pain doing it again!

Don't think I've ever powered it on from the remote, after a full shutdown. But I just tried and it only turns on like yours, that's no problem for me.

Mine is mostly hardwired but have used it in different locations on Wifi and had no issues at all.

Just copy the Userdata and addon folders from Kodi, unless you have some kind of build(copy the whole Kodi folder to a USB Stick. Then just copy it back after.

Your Kodi will be back to it's current state.

Amazon Video finally appeared on mine. Only a year late.

I got it ages ago by setting location to USA. Amazon video is petty poor though

Anyone from Ireland have an old shield with a new controller? Wondering if hands free 'ok google' works here. I don't see the setting and I'm totally up to date with Oreo and the controller firmware.
