Any one knows what error 78 means for Baxi Megaflo Compact? Boiler works OK but it often struggles to start flashing flame icon and number 78. After a couple of attempts it starts and works fine ...

It's a water pressure sensor fault
Check your pressure gauge should be over 1 bar
If pressure ok your probly looking at a new sensor

    It's a gas valve problem.
You need an RGI to look at it. A good one.

The fault code doesn't match the fault
The code is water pressure sensor
The fault is more of a gas fault
    Gas valve,electrodes ,rectifying probe

E78 is minimum gas valve current fault.
E79 max gas valve current fault.

Water pressure is fine so I guess it is something else...

Where can I find "a good RGI"? The guy who installed / is servicing my boiler didn't know what the error means.

Nibler- does it flash E first and then 78?

Or does it flash just 78?

If it's just 78 with no E then it's just a status code, nothing to worry about. :)

It flashes E, 78, crossed flame icon, spanner icon, flame icon.

    Sorry, you need a RGI.
Tell the guy you have to contact Baxi and educate himself on the fault since you have already used (and paid) him for installation and service.
Since he is RGI, he should have enough basic training to deal with it once informed.
If not he should find someone who can.

One place is here (.ie site)
    http://www.baxipottertonmyson.ie/trade-area/technical-advice/1489.htm
which I believe to be correct.

    The ref here (.uk site)
    http://www.baxi.co.uk/trade-area/support/error-codes.htm#aqAccordion5
    I think is an error.

    Look at the symptoms.:)
