New Desktop - Advice on specifications?

    Hello,

It's many years since I bought any sort of PC so I'm very rusty on what specs to get. I want to get a desktop which is suitable for general purpose use - MS office, internet browsing but also a little bit of music editing. Not for gaming. Neat in size.

    Budget up to €700

I've always come from the philosophy of the more RAM the better but are there any other new types of specs to be aware of or what type of chip to get (or indeed anything to avoid or just screams cheap)?

    Thanks for any advice!
